Amara Konneh gets Alumni Public Service Award

MONROVIA-The Harvard Kennedy School of Government has awarded its 2016 Alumni Public Service Award to former Finance Minister, Amara Konneh.

The Award Committee said: “During his tenure as Liberia’s Finance Minister, the country post-war economic growth was sustained in 2012 and 2013.

According to the committee,  Liberia’s economy improved  with estimated real GDP growth of 8.9 per cent and 8.7 per cent  respectively and led the mining, buoyant construction, and strong performance in services during the tenure of Minister Konneh.

Responding, Mr. Konneh said: “I am moved, not only by the consideration of my peers to recognize the work I have done under the leadership of fellow alumnae, President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf; but by close attention to my work over the last eight years”.

He noted that the award has strengthened and challenged him to  to do his best.

This award was established in 1997 and formerly known as the Alumni Achievement Award.

It is intended to recognize former graduates who have significantly improved the human condition at the local, state national or international levels.
