Big agriculture boost, as Govt targets 150,000 farmers

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Agriculture Ministry says it has begun the registration of about 150, 000 farmers throughout the country.

Agriculture Minister, Moses Zinnah, said under the first phase of the Liberia Agriculture Transformation Agenda (TATA), farmers will be provided essential implements and quality seeds to enhance farming activities.        i

Minister Zinnah said: “The Program will also provide an enabling environment for light manufacturing between 2015 and 2017 to diversify the country’s economy.

Minister Zinnah made the statement Friday, May 20, 2016 in an interview with elbcradio.com.

At the same time, Commerce Minister, Axel Addy, said: “ The LATA program will also target increased investments in the private sector to provide agri-business services.”  Minister Addy disclosed that about 20 thousand jobs and sustainable livelihood will be achieved by the end of 2017.
