Digital migration task team commissioned

(lbsonline/Liberia)-The Liberian government has commissioned has commissioned the National Digital Migration Special Task Team of Liberia.

A release quotes Post and Telecommunications minister Dr. Frederick Norkeh as saying, “The team will design the road-map for Liberia’s smooth migration from analogue to digital global broadcasting”.

The team is headed by the ministry of post and telecommunications and the ministry of Information including the Liberia Broadcasting System among others.

“The setting-up of the special task team is in compliance with the International Telecommunications Union Geneva conference in 2006 mandating member countries to migrate to digital broadcasting”, according to the release.

The International Telecommunications Union has set June 17, 2015 as the deadline for the digital migration for Television broadcasting in region one including Africa, Europe, the middle east, Mongolia and former Soviet Union.

Meanwhile the Liberian government through the ministry of post and telecommunications will on December 7 join countries to celebrate Africa Telecommunications and Information Communication and Technology day.
