MONROVIA, LIBERIA - The former Executive Governor of the Central Bank of Liberia, Joseph Mills Jones, has finally accepted a petition to contest the Liberian Presidency in 2017.

Dr. Jones made the pronouncement recently at a dinner he hosted in honor of the Liberian people at the Paynesville Town Hall, a suburb of the Liberian capital, Monrovia.

Dr. Jones noted: “Following consultations with my wife and family, I am delighted to formally accept your petition to contest the Presidency with your support.”

“I am grateful to all of you for the petition and you can rest assure that we will work together to achieve our goal with your overwhelming support to my Presidential bid,” he emphasized.

The former CBL Executive Governor said he would work assiduously to justify the confidence reposed in him and promised to meet the political aspirations of the Liberian people

Recently, a group under the banner, United Liberians Concerned About the Future (ULCAF), petitioned Dr. Jones to contest the 2017 elections for the Presidency.

In their petition, the group said its decision to petition the former CBL Executive Governor was based on his outstanding contributions to the Government and people of Liberia over the years.

The former CBL Executive Governor is among several Presidential Hopefuls in the pending 2017 Polls, including incumbent Vice President, Joseph Boakai, Speaker Alex Tyler, Prominent Businessman, Benoni Urey, former Foreign Minister, Augustine Ngafuan, among others.
