MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Liberia stands to benefit from a USAID-funded feeder road infrastructure development program in the country.

The USAID Mission Director in Liberia, Dr. Anthony Chan said:   “USAID/Liberia takes this program as a critical step in linking farmers and rural dwellers to markets, to help spark a market driven growth so essential to Liberia”.

Dr. Chain said theFeeder Roads Alternative and Maintenance Program (FRAMP), is aimed at developing and implementing sustainable feeder roads through research.

The USAID Liberia Mission Director made the commitment recently when USAID Liberia Mission and the Liberian Government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) of the ‘Feeder Roads Alternative Maintenance Program’ (FRAMP) Thursday, June 2, 2016 in Monrovia.

In remarks, Public Works Minister, Gyude Moore, said: “Since 2006 Government’s expenditure has been prioritized over the deficit of roads in Liberia”.

Minister Moore wants the Legislature pass the bill before it for the establishment of Road Fund to support road maintenance in both urban and rural communities throughout Liberia.

Under the MOU, USAID will support the maintenance of feeder roads and create other alternative development initiatives.

The signing and launching ceremonies brought together several policy makers from sector ministries of government.
