Liberians accept Vision-2030 for development

By Jonathan Grisby

(lbsoline/Liberia)-President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf wants Liberians and policy makers take Vision-2030 as a compass to guide the reconstruction and development of the nation.

The Liberian Leader, joined more than 600 Liberians in adopting a 16-year document called Vision-2030 at a three-day conference in Gbarnga, Bong County meant to redirect Liberia’s future,

President Sirleaf said: “this Vision-2030 is a compass because it would provide a strategy that will drive leaders in serving the Liberian people better”.

According to Madam Sirleaf, “under the Vision-2030, Government and stakeholders are expected to work persistently to advance the transformation of the nation”.

President Sirleaf however, disclosed that Vision-2030 will also rebrand and re-identify Liberians as they walk the path of peace and reconciliation.

The consultation and the formulation stages of Vision-2030 were officially accepted and came to a close on Wednesday 12, December 2012 in Gbanga City.

Madam Sirleaf at the close of the conference, challenged civil society organizations including Liberian youth to play a pivotal role in the implementation of Vision-2030, which she said is owned by all Liberians.

“Let Liberians uphold the outcome of Vision-2030, because it is similar to the 1958 and 1963 Sanniquillie and Voinjam conference held by former President William V. S. Tubman”, President Sirleaf reminded.

She urged delegates to make Vision-2030 resolutions remain a turning point in their national lives.
