Nigeria agrees to train Liberian army

MONROVIA, LIBERIA:-Liberia has again received a political goodwill from the Nigerian Government to strengthen the Liberian army.

Visiting Nigerian Defense Minister, Mansur Dan- Ali, made the disclosure Friday at the Defense Ministry when he delivered a special message from the Nigerian Government.

Minister Dan-Ali said: “The Nigerian Government has agreed to provide advanced training for the AFL’s military staff.

“Under the agreement, personnel of the Liberian army will undergo basic military training at the Nigerian Defense Academy and at other military institutes in Nigeria,” the Nigerian Defense Minister also said.

Minister Dan-Ali told his Liberian counterpart: “Nigeria stands ready to support Liberia sustain peace and security.” He then commended Liberia for ensuring the maintenance of peace and stability in the country and the sub region.

Earlier, Defense Minister, Brownie Samukai, welcomed the Nigerian delegation and praised the Nigerian Government for accepting Liberia's request to train the AFL’s military staff for advancement.

Minister Samukai recounted Nigeria’s enormous contributions to Liberia over the years. He disclosed that two Liberian military Pilots are currently undergoing training in Nigeria at the expense of his government.

Minister Samukai expressed Liberia’s appreciation to the Government and people of Nigeria for their continued support.
