MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Executive Mansion is commending Representative, Alex Tyler, for recusing himself as “Speaker of the House of Representatives.”

The Mansion noted that the recusal of Representative Tyler as “Speaker of the House of Representatives” will now allow the National Legislature to focus on their constitutional duties for the development of the country.

According to a release, the Executive Mansion acknowledged that the Executive Branch of the Liberian Government has, for several years, worked along with the National Legislature in carrying out its duties for the good of the country and promised to continue doing so.

“Such collaborative process changed after Representative announced his bid for the Liberian Presidency and adopted a non-cooperative posture,” the release also quoted the Executive Mansion as saying.

The release further quoted the Mansion as saying: “critical legislations having the effect of undermining the country’s development plan,” were stalled as a result.“ It is clear that an indictment is not a presumption of guilt, rather the start of a legal process.”

It, however, said: “An indictment also brings into question whether it is right or not for one charged with corruption to continue presiding over a body that has the responsibility for allocating resources for the country,” the Mansion also noted in the release.”

“We expect that the Bomi County Representative will continue contributing to the governance and development of Liberia and help maintain the peace and stability of the country,” the Executive Mansion also said.
