MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberia National Team, the Lone Star, is in Tunis to play their Tunisian counterparts in a crucial Nations Cup qualifier match on Sunday, September 4, 2016.

The match will be played under the auspices of the Confederation of African Football (Caf).

According to reports, the match, to kick off at 6:30 local time, was earlier scheduled by Caf to take place on Saturday, September 3.

The match commissioner for Sunday’s encounter will come from Congo and not Nigeria while the referees are all from South Africa.

The African football governing body said the change of date was requested by the Tunisian Football Federation.

Enroute to Tunis, the Liberian National Team stopped over at Rabat, Morocco to undergo five-day training with a Moroccan team to prepare them for the qualifier.

The reports also said Head Coach, James Debah, invited several over-sea players, including striker Francis Grand Pa Doe, William Jerboe, Soloman Grimes, Gizzie Dorbor and Teah Dennis.

Others are Anthony Laffor, Sam Johnson, Dikel Glay, Sekou Konneh, amongst others. The Liberian Coach also carried along with him several local players for the encounter in Tunis.

In their first game in Monrovia,   Liberia defeated the North Africans 1-0 and is on top of Group A.

Soccer Pundits say a win for Liberia in Sunday’s game will take Lone Star to its 3rd Nations Cup Final.

The Liberia National Team appeared in the 1996 African Cup of Nations final in South Africa, the tournament’s 2002 edition in Mali, but failed to progress from the group stage to the next rounds of those finals.
