USAID presents equipment to RIA

(lbsonline/Liberia)-Several aircraft equipment valued at more than eight hundred thousand United States dollars have been given to the management of the Liberia Airport Authority.

According to a release, the equipment were donated by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and are to be used by the Roberts International Airport (RIA).  

The items were donated 31st December 2012; and include; rotary sweeper, a portable service truck, lavatory service truck, and covered passenger air stairs. 

Speaking during the presentation of the equipment, the Deputy Chief of Mission at the United States Embassy in Monrovia, Karl Albrecht. said “the equipment donated are intended to be used by the Roberts International Airport, as a demonstration of the US Government’s commitment to work with the Liberian Government to enhance the operation at the RIA”.

The items were received by the Managing Director of the RIA; Ellen Corkrum who praised the US Government for its continuous support to the RIA.

“The equipment will help boost the operations of the airport as we embark on a journey to provide a world class facility; Madam Corkrum said

Madam Corkrum however, pledged the Liberia Airport authority’s wiliness to always form partnership with USAID in areas of training, and the provision of equipment.
