MONROVIA, LIBERIA- Unity Party Standard Bearer, Joseph Boakai, says the Unity Party (UP)’s desire is to move Liberia forward through hard work, honesty, and respect for all.

The UP Standard Bearer Boakai, who is also Vice President of Liberia, made the statement at the Party’s National Headquarters in Congo Town Friday when he officially admitted several members of the opposition into the party.

According to our reporter, those admitted into the UP Friday defected from various opposition political parties in Liberia.

Those admitted by the Ruling Unity Party include Grand Kru County District Number two Representative, Numene Bartekwa, and District Number 17 Chairperson, Grace Karmoh, both of the Movement for Progressive Change (MPC), and Nimba County District Number Nine Representative, Martenokay Tingban.

Others are a founding member of MOVEE, Crayton Duncan, and the Friends of Duncan, as well as some partisans of the main opposition Congress for Democratic Change (CDC).

Performing the ceremony, VP Boakai welcomed the new comers to the Unity Party and urged them to see their admission as an opportunity to help bring about improvement to their country and people.

Meanwhile, the Unity Party Standard Bearer, Joseph Boakai, is commending UP officials for the quiet and hard work being demonstrated leading to people making the “rightful political decision.”

In his response, the Unity Party National Chairman, Wilmot Paye, said: “ We will ensure that the party continue working quietly to acquire the necessary results.”
