Substandard and expired drugs burnt

(lbsonline/Liberia)-The Liberia Medicine and Health Products Regulatory Authority (LMHRA) has seized and burned substandard and expired drugs in Monrovia.

The General Inspector of LMHRA, Joseph Somwarbi said: “the drugs worth U$ 100.000 were confiscated from various pharmacies and drug stores in Montserrado County.” 

Mr. Somwarbi also announced the setting up of a task force to seize  substandard and expired drugs in other parts of the country.   

The Director of Pharmacy for Montserrado County Health and Social Work Team, Thomas Wolapaye, said: “the burning of the expired drugs has brought relief to the health sector of Montserrado County”.
