MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Ellen Johnson- Sirleaf has outlined major challenges of the United Nations, despite its achievements as a world body.

President Sirleaf named world conflicts, migration and refugee crisis, terrorism, extremism and violence as some major challenges the UN is being faced with.

She said: “Such challenges have posed threat to global, political, social and economic stability.”

The Liberian Leader’s statement was contained in her address delivered Thursday at the 71st Session of the UN General Assembly in New York, the USA.

President Sirleaf called for inter-agency dialogue between the UNHCR and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to facilitate volunteer repatriation of refugees and migrants.

She also called on the UNHCR and the IOM to tackle the issues of migrant smuggling and human trafficking, describing such practices as contributing factors to organize crimes and modern slavery.
