MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Liberia’s Chief Executive, Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, says the country is rising after a period of devastation.

President Johnson-Sirleaf said Liberia is determined towards, what she called, the “decided road,” to the achievement of the 2030 Vision.

She emphasized government’s commitment to fighting poverty, and ensuring women and girls’ empowerment in marginalized communities.

The President also said with UN partners support, Liberia will collaborate with Major Stakeholders in achieving full integration of the SDGs into the National Development Agenda.

The Liberian Leader made the remarks Thursday, September 22, 2016 when she addressed the 71st Session of the UN General Assembly in New York, the USA.

President Johnson-Sirleaf praised ECOWAS, AU and the UN for their support towards the maintenance of peace in Liberia.

She especially lauded ECOWAS for its effort in the fight against terrorism in Mali, Nigeria, Cote D’voire and Burkina Faso with the support of international partners.

The President described the drawdown of UNMIL as successful and said government has assumed full responsibility of its own security.
