(lbsonline/Liberia)-The Central Bank of Liberia (CBL) has officially launched the US$5M loan scheme for members of the Liberia Business Association (LIBA).

The launch took place Monday 7th January, 2013 at the Monrovia City Hall in the Sinkor neighborhood.

At the ceremony, CBL Governor, Dr. Mills Jones, emphasized the importance of the loan scheme during this period of Liberia’s drive towards national reconstruction and development.

He promised not to relent in ensuring that Liberians take center stage in the economic governance of their country.
Dr. Jones said: “Access to credit is critical to the economic transformation of post-conflict Liberia”.

“The bank will continue working to promote sustained growth and development of the country”, he said.

The President of LIBA, Dee-Maxwell Kemayah, also spoke at the lunching ceremony.

Mr. Kamayah commended President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf for the nomination of Dr. Jones as CBL Governor during her first and second presidency.

Mr. Kamayah said: “Dr. Jones is working tirelessly to ensure that Liberians in the private sector are empowered”.
“Liberians throughout the country are feeling the positive impact of the CBL through the provision of micro-loans to the Small and Medium enterprise sector of the country”, he said.

“The decentralization of the association remains my leadership’s top priority. There are seven chapters already established across Liberia”, said Mr. Kamayah.
