MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Central Bank of Liberia (CBL) has begun the distribution and issuance of the newly printed Liberian Dollar banknotes.

A CBL release is quoted as saying: “The banknotes are being distributed to commercial banks and other financial institutions throughout the country.”

The exercise is intended to serve customers wishing to exchange mutilated notes for the new Liberian Dollar banknotes.

Meanwhile, the CBL is urging the public not to rush to exchange mutilated notes for new ones, because according to the Bank, the process is ongoing without a deadline.

“The Central Bank of Liberia is also encouraging all commercial banks to accept mutilated notes from the public and bring said notes to the CBL for deposit,” the release also noted.

According to the release, the old and new banknotes' denominations and their equal monetary values will be circulated simultaneously.
