(lbsonline/Liberia)–ELBC reporter, Moses Garzewu, has received the 2012 Liberia Media Center (LMC) Reporter awarded.

Reporter Garzewu was given the award for fearlessly reporting on Gender sensitive issues that highlighted women’s rights.

The Liberia Media Center (LMC) gave the award Friday, 5th January 2013 in Monrovia.

The award was given, in partnership with the Journalists for Human Rights and the United Nations Women.

Receiving the award, the ELBC reporter thanked the LMC and partners for recognizing his effort in helping to highlight Sexual and Gender Based Violence and other Gender sensitive issues in Liberia.

Reporter Garzewu said: “Though I had won several awards in sports reporting, I see the Sexual and Gender Based Violence award as a challenge not only to him, but to his colleagues in the Media”.

“I am encouraging my professional colleagues to go beyond political reporting and report on human rights issues”, he said.

Several media practitioners last week received awards for best coverage during 16 days of activism in Liberia.

The 16-day activism was organized by the Liberia Media Center, in partnership with the Journalists for Human Rights and United Nations Women. The activities were held in December 2012.
