Carter Center, Traditional Chiefs discuss SGBV in Liberia

MONROVIA, LIBERIA—Carter Center is conducting a 3-day meeting with Traditional Chiefs from the various counties of Liberia.

The meeting, taking place in Bong County, is aimed at discussing ways to minimize sexual and gender-based violence in the country.

According to our Correspondent, Carter Center is seeking the intervention of the Traditional Chiefs in ending sexual and gender-based violence in Liberia.

Our Correspondent said the head of the Traditional Council of Liberia, Zanzan Karwor, along with scores of national and international partners, are in attendance.

At the end of the deliberations, the Chiefs promised to sign a resolution that will commit then to the fight against the menace nationally.

Carter Center has, at the same time, pledged to work along with the Chiefs in implementing the agreements to be contained in their pending resolution at the end of the 3-day deliberations.
