MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Finance and Development Planning Ministry has begun the issuance of the third round of grants to civil society organizations under its Non-State-Actors Secretariat.

The third round of grants is being issued through the Integrated Public Financial Management Reform Program (IPFMRP).

According to a release from the Non-State-Actors Secretariat, the value of the grant portfolio to the 17 civil society organizations from across Liberia is put at over US$500,000.00.

The civil society organizations are monitoring the County and Social Development Funds, being provided the various counties by the Liberian Government.

Four civil society organizations from Sinoe, Maryland and Grand Kru Counties have been included into the program.

“The four civil society organizations’ grant interventions are in the areas of Justice and Public Financial Management issues within the Justice Sector,” the release said.

It said a Grant Management Training for the new grantees, held recently, targeted the third round of the grant.

The release quotes an official of the Non-State-Actors Secretariat as saying the Finance and Development Planning Ministry has realized results of the Based Management Training taking place in the communities that have received funding.

Madam Carolyn Zodua said several organizations are performing, but are unable to properly document their successes and changes they are making in the communities and counties in which they are working.

The Civil Society Organizations are working on public financial management issues, justice, gender budgeting, among others, the release also noted.

The program is being supported by the World Bank, European Union and other partners.
