MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Governance Commission Chairman, Amos Sawyer, is calling for more support for the work of the GC towards successful elections, smooth transition and sustaining the governance reform initiative.

Dr. Sawyer made the call Thursday, October 27, 2016 at the start of a two-day Open House Forum to update partners and seek their continued support for the work of the GC.

The two-day Open House Forum was held at the Commission’s Offices in Monrovia.

He said: “The Commission needs at least US$2 million to fully implement the work the GC will be doing over the next two years.”

Speaking at the occasion, UN Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary General for Rule of Law, Waldemar Very, lauded the Commission for a job well done.

He said: “What was demonstrated at the forum confirmed that the GC was taking a lead in discussing the decentralization and about County Service Center, among others.”

Earlier, African Development Bank Resident Representative, Margaret Kilo, promised the Bank’s continued support to the GC.

“I am pleased with the work of the GC in the formulation of policies and programs for good governance,” Madam Kilo said.
