MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf has returned home after attending the 10th General Assembly of the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) in Durban, South Africa.

At an intercessory service at the First United Methodist Church in Monrovia Friday, scores of government officials, friends and family members gave thanks to God in commemoration of President Johnson-Sirleaf's 78th Birthday.

The brief thanksgiving service was organized on the eve of the President's birthday and hours following her return home from South Africa.

In brief response to the kind words and birthday wishes, the Liberian Leader expressed joy that throughout the tough and good times, she had learn to trust in Jesus Christ.

President Johnson-Sirleaf then thanked well-wishers and the organizers of the intercessory service.

She, however, called on every Liberian to get involved in giving their respective communities and cities a face-lift.

The President emphasized that the Liberian Government will not do such for them.
