MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Vice President, Joseph Boakai, says the establishment of tripartite relationship is vital to industrial harmony, social dialogue and fundamental workers’ rights.

Tripartite, with reference to the industrial sector, is a three-party relationship that exists between labor force, employees and government.

Vice President Boakai said: “Such a relationship helps to promote state-society relations and to enforce social contract between governments and citizens.”

“Government is committed to the tripartite arrangement to ensure the application of international labor standards,” he said.

The Liberian Vice President made the statement over the week-end at the Founding Congress of the Agricultural, Agro-Processing and Industrial Workers’ Union of Liberia in Harbel, Margibi County.

He assured that government will promote the Decent Work Bill and develop appropriate legislations.

Vice President Boakai then called on members of the Union to use their platform to promote the principles of social protection, dialogue and job creation among the tripartite constituents.
