Liberia needs US$1.5b to build health system –Dr. Dahn

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Health Minister, Bernice Dahn, says Liberia needs 1.5 billion United States Dollars for the next 7 years to build a resilient health system.

Dr.  Dahn said building health-care systems will require strong government systems for the health care sector in their planning, financial management, and accountability in the region.

The Liberian Health Minister said government has already developed an investment plan to build health systems in nine areas.

She said the plan is a building block for a well-functioning health care delivery system for the Liberian people.

Dr. Dahn cautioned governments in the region to take charge of coordination   to ensure that the region build a resilient health system in West Africa.

She made the statement recently in Monrovia at the start of the 40th Annual General Scientific Meeting of the West African College Physicians.
