MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf is requesting members of the 53rd National Legislature to return to Session, consistent with constitutional provision.

President Johnson-Sirleaf wants the National Legislature resume Session from November to December 8, 2016.

The Liberian Leader’s request is contained in a Presidential Proclamation issued in Monrovia Wednesday.

Article 32(b) of the Liberian Constitution gives the President the authority to extend a regular session of the Legislature, or call a special session to discuss and act on matters of national emergency.

The Proclamation quotes the Liberian Chief Executive as saying: "The request is intended to allow the august Body return to Session and deliberate on critical national issues in the interest of the state."
