WAMZ’s assistance to Liberia, others pleasing -Mini. Addy

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Liberia’s Commerce Minister, Axel Addy, has lauded the West African Monetary Zone-8 for its assistance to the Gambia, Sierra Leone, Guinea and Liberia.

Minister Addy said: “WAMZ’s assistance to the four West African Nations was important for the full realization of the objectives of the Regional Monetary Zone.”

The Liberian Commerce Minister is Chair of the 8th WAMZ Trade Forum.

He said: “WAMZ’s assistance to the four West African Countries will significantly help promote regional trade and contribute to the improvement of the trade governance environment in the zone.”

The theme for this year’s Forum is “Opportunities for Development through Regional Trade Integration.”

“Liberia’s representation followed its adherence to the industrial policies in the 21st Century,” he noted.

Minister Addy disclosed that Liberia was selected to host the 2016 edition of the WAMZ Trade Forum, which represents its eighth edition.

The four West African nation’s 3-day gathering ended Friday, November 4, 2016 in Monrovia.

The Forum is an annual event convened by the West Africa Monetary Institute (WAMI) and hosted by WAMZ’s Member States on a rotation basis.

The first edition was hosted by The Gambia in 2008, second by Ghana in 2009, third by Nigeria in 2010, fourth by Sierra Leone in 2011, and fifth by Ghana in 2012.

The sixth edition of the Forum was hosted by Guinea in 2013 and seventh by the Gambia in 2015.
