Gwee wants national pledge to drug fight

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) Deputy Director-General for Administration, Gwee Porkpah, is calling for national pledge to the country’s drug fight.

Director Porkpah said: “The drug crisis in Liberia is a serious issue that needs national commitment, if the country must contribute positively to the global fight against narcotic and other illicit substances.”

He made the statement Friday, November 4, 2016 at ceremony marking the graduation of over one hundred LDEA personnel from a week-long training program in Monrovia.

“Ably apply what you have learnt from the training exercise to help the Agency achieve its desired victory in the national drug fight,” Mr. Porkpah urged the graduates.

Also speaking at the graduation program, LDEA Advisor from the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs at the US Embassy near Monrovia, Rom Fleming, disclosed: “There are many future training opportunities for personnel of the Agency.”

Mr. Fleming challenged the participants to justify the knowledge impacted to them through commitment, diligence and professionalism.

He described the training as necessary and promised to provide LDEA rapid communications to make its operate easy.
