MONROVIA, LIBERIA-A Nimba County authority is appealing to the Liberia National Red Cross Society and Partners to aid the recent Tapita storm victims.

The Administrative District Commissioner, Sam Wheyee, described the situation as distressing and needs urgent attention to avoid victims from plunging into deeper health problems.

Mr. Wheyee said: “150 public and private buildings in Tapita were severely damaged by the storm, and over300 residents made homeless.”
According to our Nimba County Correspondent, Commissioner Wheyee made the appeal Friday, November 11, 2016 in Tapita.

“Some of the victims are currently seeking shelter in the homes of relatives and community dwellers, while others are sheltering in public buildings in the city,” he emphasized.

Mr. Wheyee attributed the storm disaster to the continuous felling of trees for charcoal production and for other purposes.
