MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Press Director at the Ministry of Health, Sorbor George, has disclosed that the Health Ministry will begin payment of doctors’ salaries this week.

Director George said: "the Ministry of Finance has provided additional US$1 million to help with the doctors’ alary disbursement for the month of September."

He made the disclosure Wednesday, November 16, 2016 when he spoke to ELBC following a meeting with the doctors and the Health Ministry Authorities, as well as the Finance Ministry and the Legislative Joint Committee on Health.

Mr. George cited budgetary constraints as reason for the delay in the doctors’ salary disbursement.

Though the doctors maintain their positions to stop working after a three-day ultimatum, the Health Ministry Authorities were still pleading with them to call off their pending action," he said.

It can be recalled that doctors recently gave the Ministry of Health a three- day ultimatum to pay their salaries, otherwise they would discontinue working.
