ECOWAS discusses Guinea Bissau crisis

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Chairperson of the Authority of ECOWAS Heads of State and Government, Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, has held talks with ECOWAS Commission President, Marcel De Souza, on the margins of COP22.

The talks were aimed at receiving updates and follow-ups on the ongoing mediation process involving the political crisis in Guinea Bissau.

According to a dispatch from Marrakech, Morocco, the discussions were also aimed at unlocking any prevailing bottleneck to pave the way for the swift implementation of the 10-point Count Conakry Agreement.

The Conakry Agreement is expected to lead to the alleviation of the suffering in Guinea Bissau.

It can be recalled that on the margins of the Maritime Security Summit in Lome, Togo, on October 15, 2016, the Authority of the ECOWAS Heads of States and Government tasked the Authority’s Chairperson, President Johnson-Sirleaf.

The Authority’s Chairperson was tasked to make follow-up with Stakeholders in the Guinea Bissau confusion on the implementation of the Conakry Agreement.
