LCAA warns against flying on Delta Airlines

By Ferrick Dainsee

(lbsonline/Liberia)-The Liberia Civil Aviation Authority (LCAA) is cautioning Government officials against flying Delta Airlines.

LCAA’s Director-General, Richealu Williams, cautioned the President Johnson-Sirleaf and other officials not to fly with Delta Airlines, because according to him, the airline has continuously experienced 27 mechanical problems in Liberia and Ghana.

Mr. Williams said: “The 767-300 fleet of Delta Airlines, in six months, has also experienced flight cancellations repeatedly, nine of them taken place in Liberia and 18 in Ghana”.

“Reasons given by Delta Airlines for the many mechanical problems it is experiencing are not substantive and satisfactory enough”.

“I have already met with seven of the countries in which Delta Airlines are flying to ensure that the Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) investigates the matter”, the LCAA Director-General said.

Mr. Williams’ concern coincides with President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf’s three-day visit to the United States of America Saturday 12th January 2013.

In the face of Mr. Williams’ concern, the President, along with delegation, was conveyed to the United States of America by Brussels Airline, instead of Delta Airlines.

Mr. Williams described the situation at Delta Airlines as worrisome, and said: “It could become disastrous, if no action is taken to rescue the problems”.
