President Sirleaf in Nigeria for ECOWAS Heads of State Summit

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has arrived in Abuja, Nigeria, where the 50th Session of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Heads of State Summit is taking place.

The Liberian leader, as Chairperson of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of ECOWAS, will brief the two-day working Summit on recent ECOWAS mediation in the Gambia.

The ECOWAS Authority Chair,  left Liberia Thursday, December 15, 2016 arrived ahead of the Heads of State Summit  slated  for  Friday, December 16, 2016 in the Nigerian Capitol, Abuja.

Earlier, President Sirlead  headed a team including the Ghanaian President, John Dramani Mahama, Nigerian President    Muhammadu Buhari and Sierra Leone President, Ernest Bai Koroma and met with Gambian President, Yaya Jammeh.

President Sirleaf, is also expected to brief her counterparts on the ECOWAS Commission, Parliament and the ECOWAS Community Court and report on progress made so far on the on-going Gambian mediation.
