Liberia Land Authority holds consultation on Human Rights and Culture

MONROVIA-The Liberia Land Authority (LLA) is holding a two-day consultation on Human Rights and Culture in Gbarnga, Bong County.

The consultation which begins Thursday and ends Friday, targets traditional chiefs and elders and will center on the Land Rights Bill of Liberia.

According to a release, the discussion will be conducted in three separate sessions. The Forum’s first phase is being organized by the LLA, in collaboration with the Land Governance Support Activity, under a USAID supported project.

The second phase is scheduled for January 24 and 26 in Monrovia, and will be conducted by the LLA, targeting selected lawyers of the Liberia Bar Association, the Association of Female Lawyers of Liberia, and some professional groupings.

The consultations are intended to complement the Joint Committees on Lands, Mines, Energy and the judiciary of both Houses of the Legislature.

It is also intended to complement civil society organizations and land and natural resources, and proposed Land Rights Act.
