(lbsonline/Liberia)-Liberia’s Nobel Laureate, Leymah Gbowee, is hosting an international women delegation in Monrovia.

The Nobel Women Initiative Delegation comprises four Nobel Peace Laureates, Journalists, Businesswomen, Global and Grass Root Women’s Rights Activists, and Philanthropists.

The delegation will listen and learn from women working toward peace and reconciliation in Liberia.

The group will also listen and learn from women working toward sexual violent- related issues, in particular.

The Nobel Women’s Initiative Delegation will meet with a wide-range of non-governmental women groups in Liberia.

The non-governmental women groups include the Women Legislative Caucus, high-level government officials, the Youth Leadership, and Women Peace Builders in Totota, Bong County.

The delegates hopes to take back to the United States and Canada a greater understanding of the important contributions women are making to sustain peace in Liberia, and challenges they are being faced with.

Following the delegation’s tour of Liberia, members of the Nobel Women Initiative delegation will also visit Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The delegation’s visit to Ethiopia is aimed at bringing pressure to bear on the African Union to commit more political will to end rape and sexual violence in Africa.
