President Sirleaf admonishes youth

 (lbsonline/Liberia)-President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf is admonishing Liberian youth to take advantage of the reopening of the Maritime Training Academy (LMTA).

President Johnson-Sirleaf wants the youth take advantage of the reopening of the training academy to get prepared for domestic and international job opportunities.

“Ascribe to the code of ethics” and “Stand ready to be shining examples of the best” that the LMTA can give the public, the Liberian leader also challenged the eighty young cadets, undergoing training at the Maritime Training Academy. 

The code of ethics is enshrined in the Maritime Training Academy’s flag.

She spoke Monday 21st January 2013 at the official re-opening and hoisting of the LMTA’s flag, following more than 20 years of closure.

Meanwhile, President Johnson-Sirleaf is commending the Maritime authority for the courage to relive the academy identity.

The President reminded Liberians and the Cadets that the hoisting of the LMTA and the Liberian National Flag represent the heritage, identity and pride of the nation and people.

She said: “The re-opening of the training academy is a celebration of hope and progress, and a tradition that was allowed to elapse for more than two decades”.
