MONROVIA, LIBERIA -The Chairman designate of the Liberia Land Authority (LLA) has vowed before the Senate Committee on Lands, Mines and Energy, Natural Resources and Environment for confirmation that he will improve the land sector of the country.

Dr. Othello Brandy said: “If I am confirmed, my administration will drastically reduce land conflicts and ensure proper land administration across Liberia.”

He said he has passion in working in the land sector and will scrupulously ensure the implementation of the law creating the Liberia Land Authority.

Dr. Brandy spoke Wednesday, February 8, 2017, when he appeared before the Senate Committee on Lands, Mines and Energy, Natural Resources and Environment for confirmation hearings at the Capitol.

Dr. Brandy told the House Committee that: “The growing support of civil society actors and other stakeholders, show a practical evidence of government’s political will and commitment to ensuring land reform to the benefit of all Liberians.”

The Chairman of the House Committee, Senator Albert Chie, said they will do proper due diligence in confirming individuals nominated to the Land Authority.

Senator Chie said: “Considering the crucial work ahead of the Liberia Land Authority, the Committee will not only confirm people with the requisite qualification but  equally so those with the needy expertise in Land Administration.

However, some Senators, including Conmany Wesseh and Henry Yallah, expressed concerned about the appointment of Dr. Brandy as Chairman designate from the defunct Land Commission.
