MONROVIA-The Government of Liberia has declared Saturday, February 11, as Armed Forces Day and is to be observed as a National Holiday throughout the country.

According to a Foreign Ministry release issued on February 9, 2017 a Presidential Proclamation is ordering all military and paramilitary organizations to execute appropriate programs befitting the Day.

The celebration of the Day is in consonance with an Act of the National Legislature, declaring February 11 of each year as Armed Forces Day to be observed as a National Holiday.

This year’s Armed Forces Day celebration will be held under the theme: The Armed Forces of Liberia Supporting and Defending Our Democratic Transition.

The Proclamation also states that special attention be given to veterans of the Army for their dedicated services to the nation and its people over the years.

It further directs all government offices and business houses to be closed from six in the morning to six in the evening on this Saturday.
