The Republic of Liberia has announced its intention to seek reelection as a category ‘C’ member of the International Maritime Council.

The declaration was made by Liberia’s permanent Representative to the International Maritime Organization, Isaac Jackson, during a meeting with the Secretary General of the IMO, Kitack Lim, in London.

According to a March 18, 2017 dispatch, Ambassador Jackson said:” Such ambition is a further expression of Liberia’s commitment to global partnership aimed at ensuring a safe and collaborative environment for development of the Maritime Industry.”

The Liberia diplomat lauded the significant benefits that the sector brings to Liberia, especially through the trading vessels that call daily at Liberia’s ports.

Ambassador Jackson indicated that as a traditional leader in the global maritime infrastructure, Liberia will remain steadfast in contributing in whatever way to strengthen the sector and increase its value in the world.

The dispatch said Ambassador Jackson indicated training opportunities through the integrated Technical Co-operation towards attaining uniform global technical standards as some of Liberia’s progress in the Maritime Industry.

In his response, the Secretary General of the IMO expressed satisfaction for the high quality standards being used in the management of Liberia’s Maritime program.
