MONROVIA-The Liberia Telecommunications Authority’s Chairperson, Angelique Weeks, is expected to take on the leadership of the West Africa Telecommunications Regulatory Assembly (WATRA) this week. An LTA release said, Madam Weeks will ascend to WATRA’s leadership after the hosting of a two day Annual General Meeting with delegates from eleven of ECOWAS member states. The Assembly’s Fourteenth Annual General Meeting is a gathering of independent national telecommunications regulatory agencies. It aims at harmonizing the region’s infrastructural and services regulatory identity in an effort to boost investments and investor confidence through fair competition and affordable rates for consumers. According to the release issued April 23,2017, President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf is expected to deliver a short message at the start of the meeting on Thursday. Prior to the president’s message, on Tuesday, the release says a two day conference on the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, ICANN will kickoff.
