MONROVIA-LIBERIA-President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf has submitted a U$ 29.5m Loan agreement to the Liberian Senate for ratification that will improve access to electricity.

President Sirleaf in her communication to the Senate, the purpose of the loan is to generate financing for the energy efficiency and access project of the Country.

The agreement was signed recently between the Liberian Government and the African Development Fund (ADF).

President Sirleaf noted that under the project, about 46.1 kilometer transmission lines and 280 kilometer lines will be distributed from Paynesville City, Montserrado County to the Roberts International Airport (RIA), in Margibi County.

The Liberian Leader said the loan will be implemented by the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC), and will be repaid within 30 years with a two per cent interest per annual.
The agreement is being sponsored by Senator Edward Dogoseh.
