AFL Corporal, Osuman Sheriff laid to rest

MONROVIA-LIBERIA- AFL Corporal, Osuman Sheriff has been described by the government and officials of the Defense Ministry as a gallant soldier and citizen who served his country and the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) with dedication and exemplary performance.

A UN helicopter transported the body of Corporal Sheriff arrived in Voinjama Thursday, May 11, 2017 at 3:00pm in the afternoon at which time the funeral and burial activities of the remains of the AFL Solder, Osuman Sheriff, took place in Voinjama, Lofa County.

The deceased was earlier that Thursday afternoon was airlifted from the Republic of Mali, to Liberia before taking to Voinjama via the James Spriggs Payne Airfield in Sinkor, after a brief ceremony was performed by the AFL.

Corporal Sheriff died May 3, 2017 while on national and regional duty as a result of multiple mortal shell attack by Malian rebels while on a UN backed Peace keeping Mission in Mali.

Prior to his death, he was part of the Liberian Contingent of the UN peace-keeping Mission, Liberian-based sector West at the site of Mali’s historical shrines, Timbuktu.
