MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The US Secretary of Health and Human Services says no nation has been so committed to global health security agenda through partnership than Liberia.

Dr.Thomas Price said Liberia has stood out tall in insuring positive solutions, particularly in the area of combating infectious diseases, including the Ebola virus.

Dr.Price said this was demonstrated through remarkable cooperation to improving facilities, building the capacities of health practitioners, among others, to save Liberians’ lives.

He spoke Wednesday during a press stake out after meeting with President Sirleaf shortly upon arrival at the Robert International Airport in Margibi County.

He said such progress achieved, with the support of the United States, is the major reason for making Liberia first among other countries to visit in an effort to promote global health security.

The United States Health Secretary, being the first high profile government of the Donald Trump Administration to visit Liberia, reaffirmed his government‘s commitment to continue its support to the country’s resilient health program.

He praised President Sirleaf’s extra ordinary leadership and the collective efforts of all Liberians.

Meanwhile, Health Minister Bernice Dahn has praised the United States’ support to Liberia’s health care system over the years.

Minister Dahn described the US Health Secretary’s visit as a historical point in Liberia’s health history, and that it demonstrates the commitment of the American people to standing by Liberia.

She urged the US Government for more support particularly to improving the JFK Hospital’s facilities to regaining its status in the sub-region as a referral and teaching hospital.

At the same time, Dr.Dahn is encouraging other friendly governments to consolidate their support using one budget support mechanism.
According to her, this was important as Liberia moves to the government led one plan system through the international health partnership.
