Liberia: ECOWAS Head of Authority, Ellen opens 51St ECOWAS Summit

HARBEL-LIBERIA-President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf says the holding of the ECOWAS 51ST Ordinary Summit in Liberian is an indication that the country is making the progress in sustaining the peace.

The Liberian leader, who is an out-going Chairperson of the Heads of ECOWAS Authority, then described the development as a turning point in Liberia’s transition from a post-conflict nation to a place of great opportunities.

Madam Johnson-Sirleaf said: “Liberians are honored for the gains made in sustaining the peace and look   forward to moving ahead through collaboration.”

President Sirleaf made the statement Sunday, June 4, 2017 in Margibi County, Farmington Hotel during the 51st Ordinary Summit of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government.

She mentioned that Liberians are grateful to the international community for working along with them in sustaining the gains made in its democratic recovery and transition.

The program was preceded by the four maid year Statutory Meetings of ECOWAS from May 25 to the 28th and the Second Statutory Meeting- the Ministerial Ad-Hoc- Committee on Institutional Reform from May 29-30, May 2017.

The Third Statutory Meeting of the Mediation and Security Council Committee took place on May 31, 2017.
