President Sirleaf salutes US Government for support to Liberia

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf says Liberians are grateful for the huge support the US Government continues to give to Liberia through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

President Sirleaf said among the support is the funding of road networks and power supply in the country.

She said this has contributed to the successful economic transformation that is underway in Liberia.

The Liberian Leader also spoke of the US-Liberia Partnership Dialogue that is helping Government to address the Country’s development priorities.
She spoke Wednesday evening at the US Embassy in observance of the 241st Independence Anniversary of the United States of America.

The Liberian Leader however said: “The long standing ties between the United States and Liberia continues to bring about growth, pursue of new avenues and mutual benefits for the peoples of the two countries.” 

In respond, the US Ambassador, Christine Elder, says the US-Liberia Partnership will remain strong.

Ambassador Elder that is why the United States Government is supporting many programs in Liberia aimed at transforming the Country.

She said:” The US Government is delighted to support the Liberia National Police and the Armed Forces of Liberia because of their professionalism.”

Ambassador Elder also praised the Unity Party-led Government for the progress made in rebuilding Liberia that was ravaged by civil unrest.

The US Ambassador also extoled President Sirleaf for restoring Liberia’s image among the Community of Nations and strengthen ties with  neighboring countries that has brought about regional economic growth.

She is at the same warning winners of the 2017 National Elections and Liberians to safeguard all aspects of progress made over the years.
