MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf is expected to deliver an opening statement and also serve as moderator at the Country’s first ever National Revenue Symposium Tuesday in Monrovia.

The Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) and the Finance Development Planning Ministry will host the one-day event at the Monrovia City Hall under the theme: Domestic Revenue Mobilization.

The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) are supporting the initiative.

During the symposium, findings from the four regional dialogues on domestic resource mobilization held last year and early 2017 will be presented to stakeholders.

According to a dispatch, the National Revenue Symposium is an opportunity to hear what the people are saying about tax administration in Liberia to put forth suggestions for the resource mobilization strategy for the country.

The pending symposium is aimed at raising awareness on the importance of Domestic Resource Mobilization, engaging stakeholders on Domestic Resource Mobilization strategy and gathers Taxpayer’s feedback on revenue administration in the country.

The symposium will bring together major stakeholders from across the country as well as representatives of international partners and multilateral bodies.

The symposium will also serve as a platform to launch the LRA Five-Year Corporate Strategic Plan as quick action in fostering effective tax administration for mobilizing resources domestically.
