MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Unity Party Standard Bearer, Joseph Boakai, says road development is one of the best ways of expanding the Liberian   economy.

Vice President Boakai said:” When road connectivity is achieved throughout Liberia, farmers will easily get their produce   to the market.”

He said such idea will also lead to empowerment of farmers across the country.

The Unity Party standard bearer also observed that building roads, improving the lives of the youth and empowering women will contribute immensely to economic growth in Liberia.

Vice President Boakai pointed out that one of the problems Liberia has been faced with over the years is increasing expenditure in the midst of    the economy not expanding.

He said a Unity Party led government   will insist on a balanced budget by making wise use of the nation’s resources to address issues of budget deficit.

Vice President Boakai made the statement Thursday at the Paynesville City Hall during the political debate under the theme: Deepening Democracy.
