Indonesian President arrives in Liberia

(lbsonline/Liberia)- Indonesian President, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, has arrived in Liberia to participate in the United Nations High Level Panel (HLP) meeting.

President Yudhoyono is one of the three Co-Chairs on the HLP Committee on the Post 2015 Millennium Development Agenda.

The 63-year old Indonesian President came along with his wife, Kristiani Herrawati, and a delegation of 120.

President Bambang Yudhoyono, a retired Army General, became President of Indonesia in 2004.

In a related development, some of the international guests attending the on-going UN High Level Panel Conference in Liberia have described Liberians as hospitable people.

The international guests also hailed the government and people of Liberia for the level of progress obtaining in the country, following several years of civil war.

“Laura Breton of the Dominican Republic and Nyara-dzwyi Cumbonzranda of Zambia said: “We have been highly touched by the spirit of unity and determination by the people of Liberia since our arrival in the country.”

They, however, urged Liberians to continue walking along the path of democracy, tolerance and maturity, if the progress being made must be sustained in the years ahead.

The two guests made the observations during an exclusive interview with mylbsonline at the Monrovia City Hall Wednesday 30th January, 2013.

Madam Cumbonzranda is a Switzerland-based Zimbabwean and the General Secretary of the World YWCA and Miss Briton is from the Dominican Republic.

The ongoing UN High Level Panel Conference is being held at the Monrovia City Hall in Sinkor, a borough of the Capital.

The international conference officially commenced Wednesday.
