MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Police Inspector General, Gregory Coleman, says public trust and support in the Liberia National Police has increased.

Colonel Coleman attributed the public confidence and backing to the transformation taking place in the LNP, including services being provided to the public.

He said: “The rating of police trust and support is at 71 percent, which is a sharp increase as compare to months back when the rating was between 30 to 40 percent.”

The Inspector General however, said the police is still facing challenges, particularly in numerical strength, total decentralization and low salary.

Meanwhile, Colonel Coleman said plans for the deployment of police officers for the October 10 elections have concluded.

He is at the same time calling for the timely allocation of the Elections Security Task funding.
