President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf is expected to address a public forum today Monday on Capitol Hill in the United States of America.

President Sirleaf will reflect on the United States support for Liberia under her administration, in aiding struggles such as the Country’s transition from civil war.

The Liberian Leader’s address will also highlight the US support to fighting the 2014 Ebola epidemic, a theme she addressed in a previous USIP co-sponsored event in 2015.

According to a dispatch, the President will call on the US to continue its support for democracy, human rights and good governance in Africa and around the world.

The dispatch said the forum will be attended by the US Institute of Peace, the International Republican Institute and the International Foundation for Electoral Systems.

Others are the National Democratic Institute and the National Endowment for Democracy.

The US Senator, Chris Coons, will be the honorary host of the event.

The address comes at a critical time as a Liberia is scheduled to hold elections on October 10, paving the way for President Sirleaf to step down in January, after serving two-six years terms in office.
