UNMIL to airlift electoral materials-NEC Chairman

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-National Elections Commission Chairman, Jerome Korkoyah, says UNMIL has agreed to airlift electoral materials to inaccessible areas across the Country.

Cllr. Korkoyah named the areas as parts of Gbarpolu, Nimba, Grand Gedeh, Maryland, River Gee and Grand Kru counties.

Meanwhile, Cllr. Korkoyah said elections materials for Sinoe County will be transported by sea.

The NEC’s Chairman described UNMIL’s intervention as timely and thanked the Japanese Government and UNDP for their support to the deployment of security officers.

The Chairman of NEC also disclosed that the Representative ballot papers are expected in the Country Thursday, days after the presidential papers.

Cllr. Korkoyah was speaking Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at NEC’s regular press briefing at the Headquarters of the National Elections Commission in Sinkor, Monrovia.

According to him, each of the 5,390 polling centers will receive a total of 550 Presidential ballot papers and 550 Representative ballot papers on October 10, 2017.
