PUL encourages economic freedom for Liberian journalists-Charles Coffey

GANTA, NIMBA COUNTY-The president of the Press Union of Liberia, Charles Coffey, says his leadership is fostering economic freedom for Liberian journalists.

He made reference to his recent trip to the USA at a forum with the Liberian Journalists in the Americas, where he advanced the condition faced by the media in Liberia.

Mr. Coffey said:” The PUL leadership signed a memorandum of understanding with the US based Liberian journalists that will allow Liberian media practitioners visit the USA for fellowship.”

The PUL president spoke Saturday, September 30, 2017, at the 53rd Anniversary of the Press Union of Liberia in Ganta, Nimba County, over the weekend.

Mr. Coffey, at the same time, applauded the level of press freedom enjoyed by the Liberian Media.

He said since the start of the election period, there is not much news of journalist’s intermediation by state security and politicians against journalists.

The PUL president is however urging the media to be professional especially during the voting day October 10th.
